The highest peak in the Rocky Mountains is Mount Elbert. It is at 14,440 feet and is the second-highest mountain in the United States! The first highest, for those curious, is Mount Witney in CA.
The mountain is located 10 miles away from Leadville, CO. Mount Elbert is within San Isabel National Forest (near the middle of the state).
